A review about Goldwing Service after purchase.
 I am an avid motorcyclist. I have been riding hard for about 15 years. I love my 2007 Honda Goldwing GL 1800. I got my dad into riding as well back in 2002. HIs first bike was a 2004 Goldwing GL 1800. We both enjoy the Honda Goldwings.
I live in Key West. Big guess huh. Our Honda Dealer here is less than impressive with all sorts of nightmare stories. Enough for me to never even try his shop hearing about bikes being held for weeks with no parts, parts lost, bikes getting scratched ext.. The shop here in Key West is called Victors Honda. I was so affraid of this place I would not even take my Goldwing there for warrantee work. I paid for it out of pocket to have a pro mechanic to do the job.
If you need Honda Goldwing GL 1800 parts in Key West you order them on line. Have a mechanic or do it yourself. I needed tires for an upcomming ride. Had all the intentions of having my mechanic take care of it. He is very busy and could not get the job done as he needed a special ballancing machine to do the work changing the tire on my Goldwing GL 1800.
So, I wanted to get some other items for my bike as well, and have the tires installed I though what the heck, it sure would be nice to see those nice folks at Schroaders that sold me my second Honda Goldwing. In fact, I was looking through thier web site and saw that they had some great deals on 09' and 10' Honda Goldwings and considered buying or updating my 06'. I was headed right by their shop to Blowing Rock, NC to go riding with my Mom, Dad and my wife and thought wow how cool would it be to stop by there and see the inventory and maybe get a new Honda Goldwing as they have discounts and advertise lowest prices.
I called the shop up there. They were nice and I spoke to the service manager. I told him who I was and where I was from and the situation I was in needing the new tires I bought put on my bike as well as some other stuff I wanted them to do to the bike out of thier inventory and service hours. The Honda service manager told me he could not install tires not purchased from Schroaders that the boss man "Terry" would not allow him. I understand that being a policy to an extent, hoever I had special circumstances that needed his help. He put me on with Terry. I told Terry at Schroaders Honda who I was. He remembered me and I told him of my plight and the fact I would also like them to add some other items as well. He told me not interested in working on my bike unless I bought everything from him at his store.
I reminded him that I bought my bike from him, never asked anything of him when all of his low budget extras fell apart that I had to replace out of my pocket. He was not interested and put me out to the curb. I told him I would even pay for the extra time to make up for not selling me the tires.
No dice, no installation of brand new tires that they sell right in their store.
Basically if you are in the market for a Honda Goldwing, these guys are not service oriented. They are volume get it, get thier money and kick them to the curb. I can further say that all the extra items they put on my bike fell apart in less than 6 months. I have since replaced these items with the same stuff straight from the manufacturers and it looks fabulous after 2 years. I think they are selling less than perfect or defective items of course this is my personal opinion. They buy it cheap and sell it to you at discount so you think your getting a deal.
If you buy a Honda Goldwing Motorcycle from these guys. Get the deal on the Goldwing and bring it home to dress it up. They will try and talk you out of this and tell you that if you dont buy extras you cannot buy the Goldwing.
Hopefully this will make it to Terrys desk. Not sure if he will care, but people need to know, saving 1000K to buy a Goldwing is not worth it to have the guy you bought from shrug his shoulder when you need him.
