Yellowfin 36 ft Center Console

Yellowfin 36 center console
My Yellowfin 36 ft center console "Too Intense" is an amazing piece of equipment. Capable of anything I ask.

Yellowfin Yachts 36 Ft Center Console "Too Intense"

There are many different ideas as to what the perfect boat is especially among professionals. We all have our own opinions. My 36 Yellowfin Center console checks a lot of boxes for me and the people I take fishing. The biggest boxes are ride, comfort, safety and efficiency. My anglers and I get all this and more from my 36 Yellowfin the “Too Intense”.

The “Too Intense” is a 2017 Yellowfin 36 foot center console. She is repowered every year and the electronics are updated every 3 years. Meticulously maintained and always clean ready to fish with 100% of her capability.

I use this boat for a wide variety of charters here in Key West. Mostly reef fishing charters where we are bottom fishing or working the reef with kite or trolling live baits. Then there is the deep sea fishing where my clients like to split up the day doing both reef and deep sea. Then there is my private snorkeling adventures or sandbar trips. This boat does many things very well.

bait table
This is a huge work area for me on my 36 Yellowfin. Right in the business! Bait well and Bait table all in one spot.

Ergonomics is everything in life. From the cars we drive to the work stations some folks sit at all day in an office on a boat. Boats are confined to a certain foot print and it is important to make the most of it. I had my bait table designed for me and my height. A work table, rod storage, engine shroud and a ruler all in one place. Often I am fishing on the hook and the back of the boat is where I spend my day rigging baits cutting things up and re-rigging tackle. I like to do this while standing, not hunched over.

As you can see right underneath is one of my bait wells. Easy access to the next gladiator ready to die for our entertainment. Both of my bait wells are roomy.  Then of course is the triplets.. We will get to that in a bit.

Fully loaded with GARMIN Marine Electronics

Yellowfin 36 Electronics
In the spirit of always being updated and my love for great electronics. The "Too InTense" was completely updated by GARMIN Marine in 2023.

When setting this boat up I left nothing to the imagination when it came to electronics on the “Too Intense”. She is loaded. She has two GARMIN 8616 Muti function displays to show me everything I need to know from the many different accessories.

I have the Fantom 56 radar that can see what I cannot with the naked eye. Reaching out for miles to find birds that may be on the fish. This unit is one of the best available for bird finding.

Looking at the bottom I have a GARMIN GSD 26 that produces 3k Watts of power coupled with a Airmar R509 transducer. Combined they are able to see the crack in a bugs butt at 800 ft. making sword fishing or deep dropping super easy. On the reef I can adjust this unit to see the difference between a rock and a fish picking his head out. I really cannot ask for more in a bottom machine.

Lastly the Garmin Auto Pilot reactor 40. I have never been a fan of auto pilots on faster boats like the “Too Intense” but this one has stole the show. Complete control fast and slow making my trolling or bottom fishing easier.

Everything couples into my Mercury Vessel view and CZone boat control right up on the screens. Really a nice package for giving my anglers a complete advantage to find fish on the daily.

Room To Fish Up Front

Forward Seating
Sitting and fishing up front is very easy and super comfortable. With SeaDek Marine Flooring for great grip and a rod holder - everywhere.

A center console fishing boat is meant to offer the room to fish around the console. The 36 ft Yellowfin has this and more. Rod holders everywhere you will need them with great grip on the floor by SeaDek marine flooring to keep your step surefooted when fighting a fish.

Up front I also have a large fish cooler. We call it a “Coffin” box for obvious reasons. Under that cooler a hatch lifts up and in that compartment I have plenty of storage for snorkeling gear and floatation for your day with this boat at the Sandbar Trips or on our reef snorkeling trips

Baitwells - More Coolers and Room To Fish

Stern area
Coolers, bait table, SeaDek and triple engines to get the job done right!

More cooler space in the yeti for drinks and food on the deck and in the floor if need be for more fish box.  Two large bait wells, one in the floor for live ballyhoo and the other in the transom under the bait table for my other live bait species.

Bean Bag Chair
The bean bag chairs have made long runs more comfortable. Jackets not included.

A good bit of room is vital to a a comfortable fishing boat. My 36 Ft Yellowfin offers that and more. With adjustable seating preferences including bean bag chairs upon request for the long hauls like my trips out to the Dry Tortugas fishing. The bean bag chairs can be moved once we are on location for the added fishing room.

Keep It Simple Leaning Post

yellowfin 36 seating
The leaning post is basic and very comfortable for the long hauls.

I just need a place to lean on and sit for the long hauls. fancy seats just get in the way of my fishing and maneuverability around the boat. This seat is just right. Room for two and I can sit facing forward or sideways. Under this seat is my batteries and business compartment. Out of the elements and protected. My T-Top terminates on this leaning post to offer rear support..

Deep Sea Fishing Is Fast and Easy

Trolling deep sea fishing
Deep sea fishing is simple. The "Too Intense" is fully outfitted with outriggers and electric down rigger to cover all the possibilities. She is also Kite fishing capable.

There is no doubt the “Too Intense” is very fast and super capable. Put all that in a day of deep sea fishing and get to the fish fast and have the tools to catch them. My Yellowfin 36 is equipped with new GemLux carbon fiber outriggers with 4 trolling lines and two teaser rigs capable.

Down deep my Yellowfin 36 has the Canon Magnum 10 TS electric down rigger. Great for trolling for deep running mahi mahi or wahoo. Fantastic for slow trolling live bait for our extra large Key West kingfish.

In case you were not doing the math… With a flat line and shotgun thats 7 baits and two teasers out to have a better shot to catch the fish when deep sea fishing trolling on board the “Too Intense”.

The Triplets Mercury Racing 300R

Mercury Racing 300r
Its takes three to do it right. Meet the Good, The bad, and the Ugly my triple Mercury Racing 300r four stroke outboard motors.

I have had many different versions or Mercury Outboard power on board my 36ft Yellowfin. I can have any versions I want. Every time I will chose the Mercury Racing 300R. This is the most efficient yet powerful performance application yet. Naturally aspirated with less moving parts. V-8 Power on regular fuel. My 36 Yellowfin gets 1.55 MPG average at 40 mph loaded ready to fish. When it’s time for the fun this boat will run 72 mph.

For my Dry Tortugas fishing customers who pay for the fuel this is a huge bonus to get more bang for the buck. First, they are only potentially tipping 18-20%  on the trip cost not the fuel cost. Second they are in control of what I burn and can meeter the budget. It is really amazing that I can run a full 10 hour Dry Tortugas fishing charter on less than 125 gallons of fuel. Thats a 70 mile run one way.

March Permit Fishing

March was pretty good for permit fishing this year. One of my favorite months for permit fishing in Key West.
