October 4 2020 – Weather is a funny thing. They say it will suck and sometimes they are wrong. Last week was as good example of that as I was deep sea fishing our of Key West on board my 47 Viking the “in XS”.
Deep Sea Fishing Report
We got out a few days over the full moon time period. The fishing was very good both days for a Miriad of species. Brandon was working the deck for me on the “InXS” and we were able to put some nice fish in the box deep sea fishing out just past the reef. Our highlight was two Key West full moon wahoos that we pulled out of 4 good hits and fights. We boated a 64 lb wahoo and an additional 25 lb wahoo out of 4 nice bites and fights. Other notable mentions would be our nice selection of dolphin that our anglers hooked up on and some smaller but tasty black fin tunas.
Seasonally Speaking
During the full moon in the fall we get a nice push of wahoo. This mixed in with a really late summer dolphin run added to a nice color in the box for our deep sea fishing anglers that went out with us on board the “In XS”. We were not the only ones in the bite. Much of the Key West deep sea fishing fleet did really well catching all the species an angler could want to reel in.
The full moon bite is always a thing here in Key West fishing especially in the fall. We get a nice run of wahoo in the October, November and December full moons.
Fishing Report
Deep sea fishing has been really good these last few months here in Key West. We have had a late dolphin run mixed with some nice black fin tunas and these wahoo. Sooner than later we expect to start seeing more sailfish making the runs through our area as well.
We have been unseasonably busy this year in our off season for whatever reason. Its been a nice bonus for us here after COVID. Book ahead is important to get out on a good fishing charter.
