Key West Fishing Report is written by Capt. Steven Lamp a veteran Key West fishing guide. Fishing reports are a great way to see what happened last week or last month. The fishing forecast is a great way to see what might happen next week or weeks to come based on what we are seeing in the weather forecast and based on seasonal changes. Because me and my team at Dream Catcher Charters fish all the arenas, expect to see entries from inshore flats and backcountry to the reef and deep sea fishing and tarpon fishing reports.
In my fishing reports I always try to put in a fishing forecast. I realize a report of how things were does not really help those looking to book a day of fishing in the future. This forecast comes from my interpretation of the LRF (Long Range weather Forecast) up against my years of flats fishing, deep sea fishing and reef fishing. I study pressure, moon phases, wind history and forecasted projections, Gulf Stream data and SSTs (Sea Surface Temps). It can be purely speculation. As I move through the year the Key West fishing calendar changes so I try to keep up with that.
